The idea for ZipTrip started in Denver, Colorado, after a frustrating packing experience before a short weekend flight.
Our founder, Maya Collins, was packing for a three-day trip from Denver to Miami. It was supposed to be simple: one personal item, a few outfits, and no extra baggage fees.
But the night before the flight, her bag would not close.
It was not packed with anything heavy or unnecessary. It was just the usual soft travel stuff: a hoodie, a few shirts, leggings, socks, underwear, and sleepwear. The kind of things every traveler wants to bring “just in case.”
She had two choices: pay extra for another bag or leave behind clothes she actually wanted for the trip.
Then she noticed her travel neck pillow sitting on the bed.
It was bulky. It took up space. And all it did was carry foam.
That sparked the question:
